The Mind Over Heart

Getting your mind to rule over your heart is a common theme in Jewish teachings. It's also horribly misunderstood. Most people, when they hear about the mind ruling over the heart, imagine a cold, calculated and stuck-up neurotic. After all, the mind is all those things. Wouldn't we much rather live with the vivacious, freedom-loving heart? So we have to explain that when the mind is ruling the heart, it does not mean that the mind is at the top of the chain of command. Nobody wants the mind in charge--you'd never get anything done. The mind may be great at solving puzzles, but it's an incompetent idiot when it comes to real life. Rather, the mind is meant to be but a conduit for the soul. You see, the soul, being beyond the body, has a higher vision. It also has some great ideas to express. But the soul needs to get the body involved in that vision and those ideas. While I was busy of doing things, I was once remembered how life brought me into such kinda unexplainable situations, I stopped for a while and thought of the things I don't have. Then I realized that the happiest moment of all people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it. Moreover, its also true that we don't know we've been missing until it arrives. In the gate way of my heart, I put a sign that says "NO TRESSPASSING" but love came laughing and said "I ENTER EVERYWHERE". Love knows no reason, love knows no lies, and love defies all reason. Love is when you take away the feeling, the passion, the romance and you find that you still care for that person. Love is supposed to be a wonderful feeling.
