Happy New Year, 2016! How I Welcomed the Year?
I spent my New Year with all of my Brothers, my First Cousins, my Titos and Titas, Lolo and Lola and my Mother last Dec 31,2015 to Jan 2, 2016 somewhere in Bgy Alambre, Toril, Davao City, Phils. It was a 2-day long celebration for me to consider, since I was able to create some memorable scenes right there.
On Dec 31, I came there from our house in Toril, riding a motorcycle, I was driving on it :), my brother's motor. And how's my feeling? hahahah - just a mix emotion. I was a new driver, can't help myself but to be nervous specially when some cars are trying to steal my lane, urrgg, it kills my soul.. hahahah, but I still managed to go on and try to not be scared, pretentiously. :)But on the hand, I really felt excited that time, I've never seen my cousins and my grandparents there for so long now, i mean for many years now, to think, I can only fly there within 30-45 mins. hahaha, I am just busy and a kind of lazy to go there... But, going back, another ego tells me for being excited is that I can finally see them again, and it's New Year, just a wonderful timing.
I arrived on my Lola's house around 5-6pm. I get inside their house and try looking for each of them, including my Mother since she was already there days now. I first took the hand of my Lola, she was laying on a folding bed, she is sick, but still managed to talk clearly and she can also try to change her position by sitting down, but she can't get out of that bed. I saw my Mother taking care of my Lola. I really do understand why my Mother (temporarily) left us home because she will take good care of her Nanay, and we can handle ourselves, anyway. :0
So, I took the hand of my Lola and do the "Mano Po!" tradition, I felt her happiness while seeing her handsome and cute "Apo". Orayt! :) Yes, I can really feel it.
After that, I looked for my Lolo. (By the way, we call our Grandparents as 'Nanay' and 'Tatay'), I asked Nanay where he is, she said he was in his bedroom, then I went inside and do the same thing.
But, one thing that made me shock while I was inside the house was my Tito (brother of my Mother). I noticed him upon entering the house but never mind about him, I don't recognized him on that point in time. Until my cousin told me he was Daddy Loy. I was like "Really?!?" so I went again inside to see him and give respect. Yes, it was really my Tito. He is very meager, a person that would make your realize he was in deep sickness and pain. My Tito which I already knew he has cancer, but never assumed and imagined his physical appearance, should be like that. We've talked a lot of things, about my family, my father and everything about him and me, but it was just a short conversation... :)
Anyway, this post will not be about them. hahaha, I just shared it to you. Never mind.
Meanwhile, it was already 7 in the evening, we ate our dinner, together with my mother, my tito and tita amd their daughters and sons. That time, the house was full of good vibes, but never one of my Tito felt that way, because he cannot eat foods we commonly eat, he was poor, eating porridge. So sad :( But then, we continued our eating..
They all got sleep already, never waited the New Year's Countdown, now the house was silent. Until it was already 12:00 am and it's New Year, I got up from my bed and went outside to feel the noise, the crownd, the "torotot" and all the types of noise. I was only alone during that time, so, just about 20 mins, I went back to my bed and sleep again, but before doing that, I greeted my Nanay, my Mother and my cousin, they were actually awake before I realized.
Jan. 1, 2016, Happy New Year! I woke up and get off of bed, since they called me for breakfast, it was already 8 in the morning. So we took our breakfast. But the same scenes, silence inside the house. The same scenes I saw, my Nanay who was laying bed, my Tatay inside his room also laying and my Tito just sitting on a Rocking Chair outside and feeling the fresh air. This saddens me. hoooh! My life goes on, After that, I went to the house of my cousin, just near the house of my grandparents. Right there, they offered me a lot of foods, whoaw! They were really happy, I can feel it. I went inside their house and, you know, we've talked a lot of things also, long conversations... :)
Around 10 am, we have decided to rent a Token, a Videoke, since everyone were enjoying the season, and yes, we have no duties that time. Each of us there donated at least a minimum of 100 pesos so that we can achieve the rental fee. And so, we did it. At 4 pm, the Videoke just arrived, we were very happy, I was very happy. hahahah...
Then, everything's ready, we started to sing and play live videos. A great time to enjoy the season with my cousins. They also had their drinks, coconut wine, hahahah, we actually called it in Cebuano "Tuba", it is made from coconut nectar, (hindi ko kayang ipaliwanag), and they mixed a powder of Milo and a condensed milk. I think that is "Kinutil", they really were drunk but they seemed to be just happy with no ending. :)
It was late at night, but still we were enjoying the vibes, until I got sleepy at around 10 pm and just decided to sleep... But again, I left them with happiness and full of laughter.
Jan 2, I woke up 8 am, again, breakfast is served. During that day, it saddens me considering that that was the final day to be with them, later that day, I have to go back to our house. While waiting the sunset, I made the day productive, I helped one of my cousin to gather firewood, (I used to do it before back on my childhood.), then we ate our lunch and on sunset, we went to river to take a bath and go swimming, we rode motorcycle but they also have washed the motor upon arriving at the river. We swam there for at least 1 hour and went back to the house.
Already 6 pm, and I have to leave.Sad to say that :(
Before leaving their house, I asked permission to all of the people in the house of my grandparents.
That was how I spent my Year-end. I just just hope you guys also being happy during that season. I thanked God for even just a short moment, He have unite us. Until next time :)
After how many years I was not able to go to my Childhood place, our "Kabukiran", from where I was born and spent my Elementary days, I once again hugged my Lola and made happiness to my cousins and everyone out there!
Happy new year, everyone! God bless us more!
#GoAhead!
PS: During the Welcoming of New Year, 2016, I never drink alcoholic drinks. hahaha
